Spring is here….and in order to be ready for it, now is the time to tidy up what you have and freshen things up a bit.  The increasing temps and seasonal happenings will have us up and moving about around the clock; therefore, it’s time to start straightening up and decluttering so that we walk into the spring season with a lighter and refreshing feel.

The following products and methods will save you time and make every inch of your living space super clean. Whether your routine is an all-weekend marathon or a handful of after-work cleaning sessions, these tips will get the job done fast and efficiently.

Simple Spring Cleaning Steps…

  1. Find a scent that you like.  Whatever you prefer to smell will give you an immediate sense of peace and will make the cleaning more enjoyable.  While some might favor a cleaning base that beckons the feeling of home growing up, others might prefer a favorite floral scent or environment-friendly option.  Making your own cleaning concoction can also be achieved by mixing the following: 3/4 cup water, 3/4 cup rubbing alcohol, 8-10 drops of peppermint, lemon, or orange essential oil, and finally 1 squirt of natural dish soap.
  2. Break down the overwhelming feeling of “spring cleaning”.  Be it room by room or from the inside out, attacking the cleaning and organizing process in a manageable way is much more likely to lead to success. Set a timer, start cleaning, and stop once it goes off. Check off the chore on your list, and you can relax until the next go around!
  3. Don’t neglect your garbage can.  Hosing down your trashcans and even dropping a dyer sheet into the base of them can keep them fresh.  They are receptacles of ALL the things….they need some TLC to say the least.
  4. Bathroom essentials need the proper attention to detail.  From the toilet to the shower, cleaning these areas the RIGHT way is actually simple.  Follow the directions!  If your toilet cleaner says to let the cleaner set for 10-15 minutes, let it do it’s job.  If you do, YOUR job will be easier.  These areas receive daily frequency and will reap major benefits from proper cleaning techniques.
  5. Exercise clothing and sneakers need your assistance asap.  Dryer sheets, sneaker balls, fragrant sprays, and other methods exist to help your sweaty smell at bay.  Soak exercise clothing whenever possible and keep those shoes out and about to breathe.
  6. Beauty hygiene is key for your overall self care.  From cleaning out hairbrushes to detailing cosmetic cases, making sure what you use everyday is bacteria free is a great way to product clearer skin….THE best accessory for the season!  Make up brushes pick up so many germs over time and get stuffed back in a bag.  Do your best to clean them thoroughly or toss the ones you have and start again.
  7. Your kitchen is likely the hub of your household.  From rinsing the dishwasher to organizing and wiping out your fridge, make sure you set aside extra time to tidy up this area.  Sponges need to be thrown out along with anything you have that you will never eat.
  8. Disinfect your phone.  This to-do should likely be number one on your list. After turning off your phone, remove the case. Gently wipe all sides of the phone with a disinfecting wipe.  A yearly goal might also be to replace the case and screen protector for a fresh start.

While these to-do’s are not the end all/be all of spring cleaning, they are some easy tasks to check off in order to be ready for the new season we are entering.
