In Food+Drink

For everything, there is a season.  As the fall descends upon us, so do all of those happenings that go hand in hand with a GOOD glass of wine.  Sitting out by the fire…curling up on the couch watching football…you name it and a good Cab or Pinot sounds like the perfect complement.

While finding the right one can be a bit overwhelming, it shouldn’t set you back all that much and take the fun of a good sipper away.  Just like someone can’t tell you what “your” best look is, no one can take the reigns of your palette either.  The following are just a few suggestions that we have come across that we wanted to pass along.  Cheers everyone!

  • with a good charcuterie board….
    • Wrath Ex Vita Pinot Noir – While a lighter red, this raspberry and cherry-based pinot is great when noshing on meats and cheeses alike!
  • accompanying some yummy s’mores…
    • Luca Old Vine Malbec – This spicy red is a great match with Joey, gooey chocolate. It’s dark fruit flavor is at the perfect “supporting actor” to that dessert.
  • as a nightcap…
    • Brancaia AND Unshackled Red Blends – Fruits, tobacco, and coffee flavors can be sensed when sipping either of these.  If you don’t have a go-to red, these are two good blends to begin with.
  • served alongside a steak off the grill…
    • Stags’ Leap Cabernet Sauvignon – Go ahead a get a good bottle if you are going to the trouble of bringing the steakhouse home.  This label is known to us “commoners” and critics alike.  With it’s blackberry and raspberry infusions, it is so delish from the moment it hits your lips.
  • with the girls…
    • Meiomi Pinot Noir – Since it’s classified as light to medium body, a good pinot noir is great with just about anything on the menu…and therefore standing on it’s own.  If the gals are together with no where to go (or even perhaps a pre-party), grab this 20-ish dollar bottle and know it’s a crowd pleaser.
