With summertime fastly approaching and new seasonal trends coming in, many of us are left asking the question “What do I wear?!” While the event might be a wedding, a social event, or simply a backyard party, we always want to look fabulous.

Check out our list of new trends, including some of the classics, and how/where to wear them the proper way. You can also view our album here.

Hi-Low Hem:

While most people seem to be skeptical, the high low hem is quite an elegant statement. Conservative in the back, but sensuous in the front; the trend has proven itself to be a great fit for summertime. Options vary from casual knit versions to lovely lightweight fabrics perfect for warmer weather. It is best to pair with a wedge (not too bulky) or heel of to elongate your legs and help accentuate the hemline.

¾ length sleeve:

While most people think of sleeveless and strapless as perfect choices when temps go above 75, don’t rule out the ¾ sleeve. Always chic, the longer sleeve provides instant sophistication. Materials such as lace ensure that while still covered, you stay cool.

Maxi:

A summertime staple, the maxi is the perfect way to achieve comfort while looking effortlessly fantastic. From casual days at the beach to an evening event, paired with proper accessories any maxi will get you the look you want. Choosing proper fabrics is key- for instance, a cotton/ jersey is best for the beach, not an evening wedding.

Strapless:

The strapless dress is one style that tends to be tricky, depending on your body type. Those with pear shape should choose strapless dresses to show off arms and even out proportions, while more rectangular types should choose sweetheart tops to create curve, and hour glass to showcase bust.

Sheath:

This slim, close- fitting dress is a fitting option for many occasions, but give yourself a thorough run through to ensure you picked the best fit for you. Make sure the neckline lies flat, as opposed to gaping forward. Look out for horizontal pulling (too tight) or sagging (too loose) on your chest. Also, any darts should line up at the center of each breast, not above or below them. Pinch the fabric at your side. There shouldn’t be more than an inch of allowance. However, the material shouldn’t pull across your thighs, either. Last, make sure the length is appropriate.

Sleeveless:

Easy to throw on and run out the door, the sleeveless dress is a must have for every closet. To ensure getting the most wear out of it, make sure to get one that fits your lifestyle, as well as the event you plan on attending.

Cap Sleeve:

Perfectly feminine, cap sleeve dresses have undoubtedly stood the test of time. When purchasing cap-sleeve dresses, it’s important to look at the overall suitability of the dress for one’s body type.  Make sure to try on to ensure that the dress flatters your shape.
