The 2023 Met Gala has come and gone, and this year’s Karl Lagerfeld-themed event most certainly did not disappoint. Held at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art, this night was one that was full of fashion and high-end couture.
The red carpet was a star-studded spectacle. This year, the A-list attendees were asked to dress in honor of the sacred designer; therefore, Lagerfeld’s lineage was evident and woven with both under AND over stated nuances. Many guests wore black and white as well as gowns embellished with pearls or flowers, which are all key characteristics pulled for Lagerfeld’s designs.
From actors to singers to athletes to models, guests came in jaw-dropping attire created just for them for this Super Bowl of fashion event. Our HQ was buzzing about personal favorites the morning after the event. While e.Allen is certainly big on personal style and originality, certain looks got unanimous nods of approval. Let’s get to it….
Sydney Sweeney….dead. All agreed her look was the perfect balance of delicate femininity with just the right amount of sultry flair. Her dewy makeup had the right amount of dramatic appeal, and her half up do secured with a dainty bow was the icing on the cake.
Next winner was Kendall Jenner. While often not earmarked as the Kardashian frontrunner, her spin on Lagerfeld’s black and white suiting was spot on. Marc Jacob’s took the lead in designing her collared onesie with dramatic train detailing. She looked like a futuristic Audrey Hepburn, and we were ALL here for it!
Anne Hathaway in Versace and Bulgari was a favorite as well. Her tweed, strapless gown held together with oversized gold pins hit on Lagerfeld’s Chanel feature just perfectly. The all-white ensemble gave off a bridal vibe that we were certainly here for. By accessorizing her look with over-the-elbow gloves and gold embellishments, there was no fashion stone left unturned.
One of the Met Gala’s co-hosts also made our “IT” list. Penelope Cruz donned a white and embellished ensemble fit for a queen. In all honesty, her look had exotic royalty written all over it! From a jewel-encrusted corset bodice to a sheer, yet subtle-coordinating veil, Cruz nailed a look that will withstand the test of time.
As we close with our faves, let’s end with a bang. With a night full of overstated fashion elements, Rihanna in Valentino is a high note to end on. Paired with Bvlgari and Belperron jewels, her oversized rosette top was as perfect as it was over-the-top. The look was anchored with a sleek, ballgown-style skirt while her white sunnies with elongated lashes sealed her Lagerfeld nod.
Her look, with A$AP Rocky by her side, is what the infamous Met Gala is all about. And that, my friends, is why e.Allen tunes in year after year.
